Our Blog - French Class in VidouWe decided to take a week and do a short trip down towards the Pyrénées. We stayed at a B&B and took French classes a few hours every morning. The afternoons, we spent time checking out a few small villages. We also checked out a kennel (called a vacation home for pets) that we may have Lucy stay out when we travel without her. She spent a couple hours there one day, and then an overnight, and did great. No problems with her staying there! DogsThe B&B that we stayed in also had 2 dogs: Izzy and Eva. Eva was a bit on the older side and only played a little bit, but Izzy and Lucy got along great and loved to play together. One evening, they ended up playing up on one of the couches!
One with the flash .... DEVIL DOG! ha ha ha
Izzy liked to get up on the chairs in the dining room, so Tom decided to have fun with her!
Lakes and MountainsI mentioned that this was down near the Pyrénées, and we got a great view of the mountains (topped with snow) during our morning walk with Lucy. There were several fields next to the B&B and we took Lucy on a walk there in the mornings.
One afternoon, we went to Lac de Puydarrieux, which looked like it would be a good walk. However, while the lake looked nice, the path around the lake is not exactly great for walking. In most places, you can't even see the lake because the path is quite a ways from the edge of the lake with trees in-between. It is a nature reserve and is very popular for bird watching, especially in the winter.
A nice comparison with the pictures of the Pyrénées above ... these were the next day but you can see how much more overcast and grey it was. Most days looked like this in the morning ... only the first day was brilliantly blue.
An afternoon view of the mountains from a slightly different place. We did another walk through a different set of fields one afternoon.
And one more lake, this one called the Lake of Castelnau-Magnoac. The walking path was much better, maybe perhaps because this lake was only created in 2005 and while there are birds there, it isn't specified as a nature preserve.
Towns that we visitedWe also visited a few small towns in the afternoons. Mind you, these small towns were fairly quiet and most things were closed. I'll still show you a few of the more interesting things in each town. |
